- This article is about the genetic clone. You may be looking for the original Valentine Wiggin.
Valentine Wiggin II, also commonly known as Young Val, was the genetic clone of Valentine Wiggin I.[2] She was first introduced in Xenocide.
History[]
Creation[]
When Andrew Wiggin traveled to the Outside along with Miro and Ela Ribeira, he accidentally and instantly created two identical copies of his brother and sister, Peter Wiggin and Valentine Wiggin, appearing as they were represented in his heart. Peter II and Valentine II were both governed by Andrew's aiúa, but had their own thought processes and the appearance of free will. They were genetically identical to his original siblings, due to their philotes seeking to replicate the originals, but their personalities and memories were constructed from Andrew's unconscious mind, making them caricatures of his real siblings.[2]
Children of the Mind[]
Valentine and Peter scouted various planets for Jane as they traced the source of the Descolada. As Andrew died and Peter Wiggin II became the sole bearer of his Aiúa, Valentine II's body became a host for Jane's Aiúa. Valentine II's Aiúa transferred into Peter II.[1]
Personality[]
Like her predecessor, Valentine was a sweet and caring girl, and was extremely intelligent. At times, she became depressed due to her situation.
Trivia[]
- The title of the book Children of the Mind may refer to Peter II and Valentine II coming into existence fully formed like Athena springing from Zeus's head - a child of the mind.
