Uncle Orson On the Fly is a subscription-only mailing service by Orson Scott Card. In it, he releases both early manuscripts of his writings as well as brief articles on current events or his life. When he is writing a book, Uncle Orson On the Fly is updated every couple of days usually on a chapter-by-chapter basis. Between books, however, the newsletter can go months without updates. Several short stories have been first published via Uncle Orson On the Fly, including "Renegat", "Governor Wiggin", and "Messenger".
In 2021, Card began releasing chapters of The Last Shadow as he wrote them.
