Theresa Wiggin appeared in the novels Ender's Game, Shadow of the Hegemon, Shadow Puppets, and Shadow of the Giant and is a central character in a prequel to Ender's Game, the short story "Teacher's Pest". She was born Mormon, but was said to have renounced her religion because of the Hegemon. She actually was still religiously active. She prayed over the sleeping Ender when he was young. Since Ender was a Third, a child born third to the family, which was against International Fleet restrictions, Ender's mother prayed that Ender would be "chosen." Her original name was Theresa Brown and used to be a teacher of her husband, John Paul Wiggin.

- Theresa's age was calculated based on a statement made in Shadow of the Giant "I'm forty-six years old," said Theresa. "When Val and Andrew get to their destination, I'll be ... old. Why should they write to me?". Assuming that Bean is around sixteen when this conversation happened, Theresa should be about 30 years older that Bean (Bean himself was born around 1181 b.s.c. but the official records were destroyed by Volescu).
