SPOILER WARNING: Ender Quintet plot details follow.

Po Tolo was a xenobiologist on the planet of Shakespeare.[1] He was first introduced in Ender in Exile.

History[]

Ender in Exile[]

Po accompanied the governor of Shakespeare and former head Xenobiologist Sel Menach to explore lands to the south of Miranda in 41 AX. After two weeks of exploration, they eventually came across a path made by Formic feet over 40 years before. These led to tunnels, and upon investigation found a cave with stalactites that twisted and writhed. They encountered a seemingly-dead gold-armored six-legged bug that seemed to be more bred than evolved. They hypothesized that they were bred to process minerals by the Formics.[1]

Suddenly, a slug-like creature picked up Po and pulled him to the ceiling, and he had to sacrifice his backpack to get away. Sel told Po to get away as it would take Sel longer, and the creature followed Po. Knowing that the Formics communicated mind-to-mind, Sel made a mental image of the slug going back to the Gold Bugs and the slug did so. Eventually the slug carried Sel out of the cave on its back, and Sel explained that it needed their food.[1]

Po radioed back to his father Ix explaining that they had run out of food and needed a resupply. Ender Wiggin, Ix, and two marines traveled to them on a skimmer.[1]

By 43 AX, Po had begun a relationship with Alessandra Toscano. When his brother Abra Tolo and Ender were about to go on an expedition to find new land for a colony ship, Po and Alessandra saw them off.[1]

Personality[]

Trivia[]

Quotes[]

"The first human voyagers to Earth's moon and the other planets had an easy time of it, nothing but empty space between them and their destination. No temptation to stop and explore."
