Plikt was a student at a university on the planet Trondheim[2] and a Speaker for the Dead.[3] She was first introduced in Speaker for the Dead.

Speaker for the Dead[]
During the time that Andrew Wiggin was teaching at a university in Reykjavik on Trondheim, Plikt was one of his students. As his pupil, she was very inquisitive and insightful.[2]
Four years after Andrew left the planet, she discovered some of the secrets that Andrew's sister Valentine and he were hiding, including the fact Andrew was Ender the Xenocide. After telling Valentine of her discovery, Valentine informed Plikt that Andrew was also the original Speaker for the Dead. In telling these discoveries to Valentine, they became good friends, and Plikt was even brought on as a tutor for Valentine’s children.[2]
In 3150 AX, twenty two years after Andrew had left Trondheim, Plikt joined Valentine and her family on a voyage to Lusitania. [2]

The Last Shadow[]
6 months after the Leguminids arrived on Lusitania in 3180 AX, the Descolada project was completed and Plikt and Valentine Wiggin were asked to write several monographs about the acomplishments of the Leguminids and Ribeira family. Plikt wrote three monographs compiling the events that occured that year; "The Ribeira Family Saves the World", "Leguminidae", and "Peter Wiggin as Ender's Heir". Afterward, she beganto write "Notes on The Life of Ender", in preparation for writing The Life of Ender, a proposed book that would stand parallel with The Life of Human, The Hegemon, and The Hive Queen. When Plikt asked Jane to supply her with information from her 3 thousand years of history and memories, but Jane said that Plikt was not qualified.[1]
