Peregrino was the bishop of the Catholic church of Lusitania.[1] He was first introduced in Speaker for the Dead.

Peregrino was very devoted to his faith. Before Andrew Wiggin arrived on Lusitania, he told the assembly of Lusos that Wiggin was Satan incarnate, only due to the fact that he was a Speaker for the Dead, and told the entire colony to help as little as possible with the Speaker's work. As the highest religious official on Lusitania, the Bishop was very set in his ways, although he was quite young. He had no gift for speaking, and he had no tact when addressing touchy issues (such as his conversation with Libo about the death of Pipo, when the Bishop said that quite probably, the Pequeninos were just animals).[1]
