Operation Sky Siege, also known as Fleet Two or F2, was a fleet sent to attack the Formic motherships positioned above the ecliptic.
Overview[]
During the Second Formic War, CentCom decided to split the International Fleet into three fleets. The second of these fleets (F2) was known as Operation Sky Siege, and was sent to destroy the Formic motherships above the ecliptic.[1]
Operation Sky Siege was initially tallied at 42 vessels. These ships included the Vandalorum, the Kennedy, the Manchester, and the Revenor. The Revenor was the flagship of Operation Sky Siege and transported the Polemarch, Ishmerai Averbach. Known members of Operation Sky Siege included Admiral Rheine, Rear Admiral Connelly, Rear Admiral Duquette, Captain Hoebeck, Major Tokonata, First Lieutenant Al-Baradouni, Lieutenant Maria Rivera, and Apprentice Khatri. Ensign Victor Delgado was also sent to the fleet via zipship, and was retrieved by the Vandalorum.[1]
Outcome[]
As the 42 warships moved toward the motherships, three of them revealed themselves to be hullmat-covered Formic ships disguised as IF warships. Juke Limited's NanoCloud missiles, which had delayed the fleet's rendezvous, proved to be worth the wait and critical in the fight. The fleet ships fired on the Formic ships with the NanoCloud missiles, breaching the hullmat, followed by a second chaser missile to destroy the ship from the inside.[1]
By the time the three Formic ships were destroyed, six fleet ships were destroyed and three were badly damaged, including the Revenor, which was one of the first ships to be hit. Polemarch Averbach and Admiral Rheine were killed, but Victor Delgado used his zipship to retrive the Revenor's ansible, which he used to communicate with Hegemon Ukko Jukes and Imala Bootstamp. The battle would come to be known as the Battle of False Faces.[1]
