Luton Trey was a scientist on Shakespeare.[1] He was first introduced in "Governor Wiggin".
History[]
Governor Wiggin[]
Around the year 43 AX, Luton was working on a team finding ways to extract iron on the metal-deficient planet of Shakespeare. On his team were Royo and Clara, two grandchildren of the International Fleet armada, who had fallen in love. Luton had ran a blood test on them to see if there were any complications and found that they both carried the Sleepless Gene, a genetic disease that the Ministry of Colonization marked as not being allowed to propagate in any colony. When they eventually found a Formic nursery with iron scraps, and Luton went to fetch the Governor of the colony, Ender Wiggin. Luton approached him on a Flivver, and asked him to come see the nursery. They stopped at the public ovens and Audra Overhill happened to be baking, so they headed out for the iron camp with fresh bread. On the way, Ender asked why he was coming as he was not an expert. Luton explained the situation with Royo and Clara, and Luton felt bad as it was not his place but Ender reminded him that it was important to know in such a fragile colony.[1]
When the reached the nursery, Ender asked the Xenologer Clara and geographer Royo about the findings at the nursery, and asked if they had checked with Zhang Fakhry, who had investigated the other nurseries. At dinner, Ender, Royo, Clara, Luton, Anwar and the metallurgist Munk had a traditional "completely unscientific specfest" where they would speculate on the things they found from the Formics to eventually discover what they were.[1]
Ender stayed with the iron team for another day, but by then it was clear that Luton had things well in hand, as they had found a way to extract iron from the cave walls. A month later the iron team returned to the capital of Miranda victorious.[1]
