Isabella Santangelo was the mother of Dorabella Toscano and the grandmother of Alessandra Toscano.[1] She was first introduced in Ender in Exile.

Isabella married Leopoldo Santangelo and had a daughter, Dorabella. However, after Dorabella became pregnant with the child of a bike messenger at age 15 and married him, she disowned her daughter. Despite this, every 10 days into a month Isabella would call her daughter and beg her to come live with her, and when Dorabella refused she would scream at her until Dorabella would mail her some money so Isabella could buy some junky item for her house.[1]
Ender in Exile[]
While Isabella lived in Polignano a Mare, Dorabella's own daughter, Alessandra, tracked down Isabella's location through the Nets and visited her one day after school. At first, Isabella turned her away, but when Alessandra mentioned that they were going away to a colony world she let her into her apartment. After arguing with her for a bit, Alessandra told her grandmother that she didn't want to leave Earth with her mother and asked her to be her guardian. Enraged, Isabella kicked Alessandra out. She later called her daughter and yelled at her for sending Alessandra, which was what she assumed.[1]
Months later, Isabella went to her daughter's home to harass her further and prevent her from leaving on a colony ship. After a confrontation, Dorabella and Alessandra left Isabella behind to head for the shuttle port, still screaming at them.[1]
