Great Mother was a Llop that gained sentience after joining with a parasitic lifeform on the planet Catalunya.[1] She was first introduced in "Renegat".

When Andrew and Valentine Wiggin arrived in Catalunya to investigate the death of Kenneth Argon, the former spent time with Great Mother in the fields of the planet to learn more about the Llop.[1]
Later he, Valentine, and Dabeet Ochoa brought Great Mother into the lab to see what would happen. Great Mother consumed the parasite that was waiting in the lab, and transformed. It made liquid come out from her ears and nostrils, defying gravity by covering her head. This parasite transformed her head into a globe where only her jaws protruded, with holes for her eyes. It gave her back the ability to speak, as all female Llop once could. She explained what happened between the Llop and Kenneth Argon, then stated that the parasite that gave her sentience would die soon. She requested that the humans leave her alone to sing the song of her people before she lost her voice forever. After they left, she began to sing with a series of dog-like sounds.[1]
