Earth Awakens is the third and final novel in the First Formic War Trilogy, published on June 10, 2014.
When the alien ship screamed through the solar system, it disrupted communications between the far-flung human mining ships and Earth. So Earth and Luna were unaware that they had been invaded until the ship dropped into Earth orbit, and began landing terraforming crews in China. Politics slowed the response on Earth, and on Luna, corporate power struggles seemed more urgent than distant deaths. It's up to Mazer Rackham's squad in China, who have developed a method to destroy the alien landers one by one; and Lem Jukes and his crew on the Moon, who may have the key to destroying the Formic mothership in orbit.

The Molecular Disruption Device, also known as the Molecular Detachment Device, was a powerful weapon designed and built by the International Fleet.
The Little Doctor has two beams, which when fired meet together to create a field in which electrons could not be shared. The field spreads out in a sphere, but becomes weaker the longer it disperses. If the field comes into contact with more molecules, it gets stronger and the dispersal process starts over. After the field dies down, the only thing remaining is a clump of iron molecules.
